For newborn care specialists

A professional home for your newborn care practice

NCS Resources represents specialists who take this work seriously — and we build the infrastructure that makes a premium practice sustainable.

Role objective

What a Newborn Care Specialist is here to do

The objective of a Newborn Care Specialist is to provide professional, evidence-informed, non-medical support to newborns and their families during the critical postpartum period. The specialist promotes the newborn’s safety, comfort, healthy development, feeding, sleep, hygiene, and daily care while helping parents gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to care for their baby independently.

A Newborn Care Specialist also observes the infant’s behavior and routine, maintains accurate care records, reinforces safe newborn-care practices, supports parental recovery and adjustment, and promptly refers medical concerns to the appropriate licensed healthcare professional. The ultimate goal is to create a safe, nurturing, organized, and family-centered transition from birth to stable home care.

  • Newborn safety, comfort, hygiene, and daily care
  • Feeding support and sleep-shaping within safe-sleep guidance
  • Observation of behavior, routine, and accurate care records
  • Parent education that builds independent confidence
  • Support for parental recovery and household adjustment
  • Prompt referral of medical concerns to licensed clinicians

Scope of service varies by jurisdiction
